Meeting with Parliamentarians

Meeting on "The Treaty of Rome and Issues of Accession by Nepal" was held in Kathmandu on 7 November 2006 with the members of the parliament, Chief Whips of the major political parties and the members of the Foreign Affairs and Human Rights Committee within the parliament secretariat. The programme was organized with the objective of pushing forward the agenda of accession to the ICC Treaty, and pressurize the government to implement the unanimous proposal passed by the parliament for the accession to the ICC Treaty on 25 July. Mr. Larry Maybee, Regional Legal Advisor of ICRC, New Delhi, facilitated the program jointly organized by INSEC, Coordinator of the National Coalition for the International Criminal Court, and Foreign Affairs and Human Rights Committee under Parliament Secretariat with the technical assistance of International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC). Seventeen parliamentarians including three former ministers and party whips participated the meeting.
