Human rights defenders organized a sit-in programme demanding ratification of the Rome Statute of the ICC after handing a memorandum to the Speaker of HoR in Kathmandu. The sit-in was organized by the NCICC and HRTMCC at Maitighar Mandala nearby the secretariat of Nepal Government on 17 July 2006.
Speaking at the programme, INSEC General Secretary Mr. Kundan Aryal said that it was a move to exert pressure on the government to ratify the Statute.
Ms. Bidhya Chapagain, on behalf of NCICC, explained the reason for organizing the programme and briefed on commitment expressed by the Speaker of the HoR.
